The land is located at Owiredu near Asaman – Koforidua in the Okere Constituency (Akuapim North) in the Eastern Region of the Republic of Ghana. In the beginning, most people used the land for farming activities. Today, the place is developing and people are buying it to build houses while others are using it for their businesses and other projects. The land is partly soil and partly stone. The stone is used for quarrying and is far away from the township.
In the year 1761, a member of the family by name OWIREDU who was popularly known as Onyame Yaw, from Adukrom Akuapim customarily acquired a large track of land and settled there. He was the first person to live there. When he died, Kwaku Sakyi became the family head from 1809 to 1894 and performed the necessary customs in the family as the new family head of OWIREDU succeeding Onyame Yaw. Yaw Darko also known as Kwao Darko who was then the Asafohene of Adukrom Akukude Clan, succeeded Kwaku Sakyi, performed the necessary customs, and became the new family head of OWIREDU, from 1911 to 1947. Kwasi Annor also known as Akwasi Adae succeeded Yaw Darko and became the next family head of OWIREDU family from 1947 to 1949. When he died, Kwadjo Mante also known as Okorto took over as the next family head of OWIREDU from 1949 to 1955. When Kwadjo Mante died, Kwabena Lartey who was then the Nkondwahene of Akukude Clan succeeded him. In 1964, Yaw Asare succeeded Kwabena Lartey and performed the necessary customs as the new family head of OWIREDU. The OWIREDU has been in procession of the land since 1761. The possession of the descendants of OWIREDU family with Yaw Asare as the declarant being the head of the family. All that piece or parcel of land situate lying and being at OWIREDU in the Akuapim North District, in the Eastern Region of the Republic of Ghana, and encompasses an area approximately 103.52 acres. The land is fully registered and the OWIREDU family is the OWNER of the land having their genuine document from lands Commission. The land is safe and there is no litigation on it. The OWIREDU family is open to the public that any individual, group of people and companies who are interested in acquiring land in the Eastern Region should contact them.
